Holiday First Impressions

November is coming to a close, and once again my favorite holiday is fast approaching. Like last year, this holiday season (thanksgiving, Christmas) is ripe to be the best ever. My parents are now living in West Virginia, my grandparents are living, well, everywhere it seems. (They came by work yesterday, and I got to talk to them for a few minutes. They mentioned that they are going to be living with Sara in Florida for the winter, head back to South Carolina to stay with Charity for the spring, and then to West Virginia for the summer with my parents.)

Anyway, our respective living arrangements indicate interesting Christmas plans. On Dec. 8-9, we’ll be heading to the Tennessee mountains with my dad’s side of the family. We’ll be staying in a cabin, which ought to be fun, although there are no pets allowed, which means Nina and Chloe get another night or two alone at the house :-(

I guess we’ll be doing the gift exchange there as well, since it’s the only time we’ll all be together.

Then, on the 21st or 22nd, Meredith and I will be making the trip up to see my parents. We’ll be there until noon on Christmas day, at which time we’ll be heading back to her parents house to spend the next few days. That’s a heck of a lot of driving, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. If it’s easy to spend time with people you love, you can easily get lethargic about it, and that’s not good.

In other news, my friend Jonathan is getting married this Saturday, so Congratulations are in order! I plan on being at the wedding, and hopefully Meredith will be there with me. I suppose a less secure man would be uncomfortable taking his girlfriend to a wedding, especially when you’ve been dating longer than the couple whose wedding you’re going to :-) OK, maybe I’m not as secure as I thought :-) Oh well.

Lastly, I’m going to try to keep these personal posts off the homepage if I can, although that may not be possible. Maybe there’s a way to exclude a category from displaying by default on the homepage. I’ll look into it. If not though, I’ll try to keep more issue oriented stuff ready to go that should bump down personal entries. Maybe I’m over thinking it, but I can’t imagine many people are that interested in my holiday plans.

Anyway, until next time…

P.S. posts to expect soon: Music Series: Part 3 (this ought to be fun, don’t miss it), some more Christmas stuff, and I want to get a preliminary article on here about Intelligent Design. Also, I’m starting to compile information on a post on Small Church Strategies in a Big Church World, which I’m really excited about. Obviously, you need to be checking back often, ’cause there’s a lot of stuff brewing. Better yet, just subscribe to my feed using you favorite RSS reader.
