Music Series: Part 1.5

Before I start the next part of the Music Series, I want to make a few disclaimers. Here we go:

The opinions expressed are my own. They do not necessarily represent the opinions of my family, employer, friends, acquaintances, neighbors, pets, or anybody else for that matter.

While this is not a debate, I welcome people to disagree, make suggestions, give pointers, point out errors (in love, of course), etc. Please do so either through the comments, or email me (if you know my email address).

I am not necessarily trying to get anyone to change their opinion concerning music. Your personal convictions are just that, personal. If you feel like your position on music is shaky, have a read. If you feel strongly about your position on music, I encourage you to read too. However, if you feel, for whatever reason, that God doesn’t personally approve of you listening to any kind of music other than [insert style here], then by all means, don’t. My goal here is to attempt to encourage people to stop constantly trying to convince other people that God considers certain styles of music to be sin . Keep your own convictions to yourself, and if you feel like you have biblical proof to back up your conviction, by all means, I’d love to hear it.

If you are offended by this post, keep your comments and emails to yourself. I’m not attacking you personally, just your position. If that offends you, you need to get out more.

If/when I refer to a particular denomination, I do, by no means, intend to make universal statements. There are always exceptions. If I call out a particular denomination, and you happen to be part of that denomination, I do not intend the statement to be a blanket statement describing every member of that denomination.

If/when I criticize a denomination, it only means that I disagree with the particular issue that I am speaking on. It does not necessarily mean that I agree/disagree with their doctrine.

I think that about covers it. If this document is updated, I will indicate it with an [edit]…[/edit] tag.

Nathan
