Why I Love Blogging
As I approach the three month anniversary of this blog this coming Friday, I wanted to share some of my thoughts on my introduction to blogging.
First off, blogging is one of the most rewarding and satisfying things I’ve ever done in my life. I’ve met some really cool people in the last few months, sparked some serious conversations over serious issues (gay marriage, Intelligent Design, atheism), hopefully opened some eyes concerning music, and all the while I had a blast doing it! A lot of people say that writing is therapeutic, but that’s too cliche for me. It really isn’t that therapeutic. It’s actually work to produce quality content and take on serious issues. But, when you publish an article and start to see people commenting, and watch your stats literally grow every single day, you realize how fun it is to be a blogger.
One of the greatest things about being a blogger is being able to say whatever you want! You’re not looking to please an editor, sell something, or even to make friends (although many times you do).
More often than not, you’re under the rules of the owner of a site that you participate in (digg, message boards, chat rooms), and therefore you submit to their authority, or risk having you post removed or your account deleted. Not so with blogs. Many times that fear of “getting in trouble” keeps us from speaking honestly on many sites, but with a blog, YOU control what gets said. And if you happen to have a popular blog, your thoughts are immediately available to masses of people (we’re not quite at “masses” yet…perhaps a “good sized mob”).
So as we get closer and closer to the anniversary, I want to thank everyone who visits this site and thinks my thoughts are remotely interesting! I love doing it. So long as there are people who read, I’m here to write.
By the way, don’t miss our big anniversary post on Friday!
Nathan
