My new favorite blog reading technique

As I stated in my 3 month anniversary post, I’m always looking for new intellectual, humorous, entertaining, or otherwise enjoyable blogs to read. Sadly, there aren’t a whole lot of blogs who I consider “knock-outs” and therefore I visit their site about once a week instead of subscribing to their blogs in my Google Reader.

But, there are blogs that I do really like and know the authors personally. I trust these bloggers and their reading habits. I’ve noticed that a couple of them followed my lead in sharing their favorite blog posts they read through Google Reader’s sharing function, then posting a link to their shared items on their personal blogs (or displaying that handly little sidebar widget, something I’m considering myself).

So what’s my new favorite blog reading technique? I subscribe to those people’s shared items. I know it seems redundant, subscribing to a subscriber’s shared items, but it really extends my network of blog reads.

So today, I want to encourace all my readers who also blog (and use Google Reader or Bloglines) to publish your public shared items. I don’t mind leading the way either. Here’s a link to my shared items. Just subscribe using your favorite feed reader, or better yet, use Google Reader to subscribe to my shared items, then share your items too! Lots of fun!  Once you’ve subscribed, then all the stories that I think are interesting enough to share will be delivered to your feed reader as well!  I can “recommend” a story to you without using up space on my blog for it.

Also, encourage other bloggers to share their favorite stories too.  Subscribe to their shared items and before you know it, you’ll be reading the best of the best from around the web, all from one location, your feed reader! Have fun!!!
Oh, and yes I plan on doing my Friday Favorite today. I have internet at my new place now, so I’m good to go!
