This song is so so fantastic. I says hope and freedom. I love it and what it means. Thank you for sharing your gift.

God bless and keep you.

Ben,
yeah, the do have a version. It's up at youtube if you look for it.

Shelly,
Isn't it amazing how when you aren't told "you have to like this or you're a bad Christian" how easy it is to actually like it. It reminds me of book reports in high school. I hated those things, and thus hated reading because I was forced to do it. Now, I read all day (granted, they are blogs, but still). It also has something to do with the fact that it seems like churches purposefully played those hymns in the most boring, slow, monotonous way possible. Why do they do that? :-) I guess the more you don't like doing it, the more noble you are for doing it ... therefore we have to make you hate it before it actually glorifies God. Yep, I think that's it :-)

I have been out of the traditional church for about 3 years now. I tend to hum to myself a good bit while I work, and lately it's been songs out of the good ol' Baptist Hymnal. I think maybe now that I'm not forced to sing hymns every Sunday simply for the sake of tradition, I can enjoy and appreciate them for what they were truly intended to be - heartfelt expressions of love for God. It's amazing how something beautiful can be ruined when you do it "just because."

Great song. The Newsboys did a version of it I heard somewhere recently that's good too. Stuart Townend has written so many great songs like this.

Thanks for sharing!
