Comments on “Too Far Gone?” Now Open

For those of you who were reluctant to comment on the “Too Far Gone?” post, I understand. It’s hard to air your opinion when it will almost surely be met with 2 to 3 extra long posts from a threadjacker challenging not only your opinion, but also any number of other personal insults as well such as challenging your ability to think, knowledge of history, religion, or science, etc.

You don’t have to worry about that anymore. The threadjacker has been officially banned.

So, if you are interested in the topic I wrote about in the article, please go there and comment. Agree or disagree, we will be civil and discuss it with you as long as you like. I personally find the subject fascinating and enjoyable to converse over. Hopefully you will feel the same way and weigh in with us.

For the record, the comments on that story that are unrelated to the article above will be removed or edited. I just want to remove any reference to the aforementioned threadjacking and open up the thread for new input.

Thanks!

UPDATE - Here are my parting thoughts to the threadjacker …

When you can find someone nice enough to put up with you on their blog, email them and thank them. They will inevitably have an endless amount of patience. I think I’ve done pretty well, but you’re time is up.

The fact is, after I told you that your comments would be held for moderation, you changed your email address so they would immediately get published. Why? The fact is that there are currently 54 comments on this story, and comments made by you make up 35 of those, by my count. Most of the others are mine having to attempt to answer every one of your questions (mostly off topic).

When I’m about to submit a comment to answer one of your questions, I will inevitably see another comment of yours asking another string of unrelated questions. For instance, as I write this, I see another of your comments has reached my inbox. It’s no different than the previous comments, more talk of how we all should bow before your wisdom and years of experience. You’ll kindly forgive me, again, if I simply don’t think that would be wise.

“Get some humility, boy.”

Likewise.

“I’ve done my time, and I know what I’m talking about.”

I believe that you believe that.

“Take advantage of it or ban my ass.”

Don’t mind if I do. But this time, try to resist the evidently irresistible urge to try to skirt past the ban and gain an audience by hijacking another thread. If you can find people to read your own blog, then by all means do so. My suspicion is, however, you will not.

“Make a decision, but stop flapping your lips unless you have something substantial to say.”

I’d be willing to bet that if I had 100 people read through this thread and tell me which one they would characterize as “flapping their lips”, they’d say it was you.

“I say this with all due respect and love for you my brother, and I’m not even being sarcatic. I care for the abused brethren, i want them to have knowledge leading to freedom and liberty.”

If you loved me, or my readers, then you would take a more effective approach to enlightening us. As of yet, the evidence suggests that you had simply found a place where people would allow you to speak your mind, since such a place is relatively rare, and took advantage of it.

Please don’t send any emails unless they contain some sort of change of heart. Any emails containing profanity directed toward me, insults, jeers, or otherwise “you suck” comments, will be promptly deleted without reading, so don’t waste your time. This thread had at the very least the potential for productive conversation, but now it is flooded with comments about religion and sonny-losophy. Start a blog, go get some readers, then flame me.

I don’t mind if you disagree … there are many here who do. But go do some research on how to do so properly.

Good call, Nathan.

He was out of provocative things to say, anyway, just rehashing his same old beef, and I apologize for my part in feeding the troll.

I wonder if you aren’t giving a bit too much attention to him by dedicating now an entire blog?…

I think your threadjacker is starting in with me now - if you get a chance, please look at the name on the deleted comment on my last post and see if it’s the same. If so, I want to go ahead and block him. Thanks!

@Shelley
What’s the name? If it’s a deleted comment, how do you think I can see it? :-)
