The Right Kind of Politician

“[Ron] Paul reads the Constitution strictly and votes against any bill he thinks goes outside Congress’ authority as granted within it.”

Unfortunate vs. Unwise

It could be argued that Governments should put in place so-called “safety nets” for the most unfortunate among us. But let’s not confuse those down on their luck with those down on their judgement.

Thought Crimes

Your thoughts, though they may be racist, hateful, scheming, or psychotic, should never be submitted to prosecution or government control. Our actions are the only thing that should subject to scrutiny by the government, and even then, only the actions that affect others.

Freedom for Freedom

Never, ever sacrifice one freedom for another, even if it is not yours to lose. If you gain your freedom by restricting another, no progress has been made at all.
Blood may be spilled, lives may be given, and fortunes may be spent, but freedom is never up for barter.

My Fellow Man

I have tremendous faith in my fellow man. Not that they’re perfect, but that given time and freedom, I believe they’ll always chart the best path for themselves.

Patience

Liberty doesn’t come fast, or easy. Patience and perserverence in the mean time is the test of a man’s resolve and desire for it.

Self-Governance

Letting people govern themselves is risky, but any alternative is unthinkable and an even greater risk.

The Politics of Marriage

A government that thinks it has the right to define, or redefine, marriage, is a government that has gotten too big, too powerful, and too arrogant.

Religion and Politics

It’s impossible to divorce religion and politics; but that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t try.

Generosity

It’s easy to be generous with other people’s money. True nobility is charity and sacrifice of your own possessions, by your own free will.
